Canadian Government Response to Covid-19

Governments all over the world are scrambling to respond to Covid-19’s devastating effect on businesses. To its credit, the Canadian Government has been one of the quickest to respond. It presented no less than three measures as a part of it’s broader measures to help Canadian businesses struggling with the lockdown. Despite the roll-out of rent assistance, subsidies for existing employees and covering expenses for providing COVID related safety equipment to food processors, businesses continue to feel the effects of the pandemic on their bottom line.

While lockdown related restrictions continue to ease, businesses are still having to adapt to a post-COVID world in different ways. More than ever, Government Grants remain a strong pillar of the policy response to Canadian business needs. Grant Programs that focus on encouraging work experiences for students, support to develop new markets and provide for training-related costs can help businesses meet some of their planned expenses. As businesses struggle with liquidity, Government Grants present a great opportunity to plug in these gaps.

Here at Anchorage, we continue to encourage our clients to leverage Government Grants to execute their business plans for the year. We are also keeping our eye on newer funding programs to provide our clients with timely updates so that they can make the most of these opportunities.
